Botox

This is one of the trademarks of a toxin produced by a bacterium called “Clostridium botulinum” that causes a disease known as botulism. This toxin which is used for medical purposes, is obtained in the laboratory purified and weakened. It is used, for two decades in medicine to treat strabismus, muscle contractures of the neck (torticollis), contractures and facil “tics”, eyelids contractures, facial spasms, urinary retention, trembling voice, etc..

In summary, botox is used by neurologists, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, physiatrists, plastic and aesthetic surgeons. In this case and with the aim of halting the aging face, in the following clinical situations:

  1. With exceptional results in frontal wrinkles (forehead wrinkles) and glabella (area between the eyes) in which the dose is very small, applied with local anaesthesia and without interruption of work and social life, giving a smooth frontal region;
  2. Outside the eyelids;
  3. Peri-oral, namely commissures and upper lip.

Botox must be applied in these areas in small doses, wisely, by a expert plastic surgeon. The results have a duration of nearly six months and in some cases it can be up to eight to ten months, and it can even occur an effective improvement since it acts by blocking chemical in striated muscle that is dependent on the will of their own. In some situations, one ends up losing the habit of muscle contraction that causes wrinkles.

This treatment can be also used in an isolation form, as a complement of the surgical treatment of the aging of face and neck (Facelift) of eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) and fill the lips (lip closure).

Botox is a clinical and therapeutic key, very useful and ease in its application, speed and effectiveness of action, but it should be applied with prudence and knowledge because any abuse or misuse of the anatomical region leads to undesirable results.
