Obesity
Obesity is the accumulation of fat in the body caused almost always by a power consumption in food, higher than the body uses for his maintenance and performance of daily life activities. In other words: the food ingestion is greater than the energy expenditure.
The diets for weight loss must be made in accordance with a healthy eating plan, combined with adequate exercise. One must have into account that there are no miracles but great sacrifices and many changes of habits that will be made over time.
Apart from the intake around two litters of water per day, you should exchange all kind of sweet desserts for fruit. Fruit contains the essential sugar for your body and is much healthier. You should also drink at least two pieces of fruit per day, avoiding some which may have many calories as mango, avocado and grapes, for example.
You should also plan your meals: six throughout the day. This diet should be based in steamed and grilled food since it’s much more healthier and avoid eating too many unnecessary condiments.
You should also choose to eat white meats in detriment of the red and invest in more fish and soups.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are psychiatric debilitating illnesses characterised by problems regarding food. The person is so preoccupied with their weight than often fails to think of anything else and tries to avoid eating at all costs. This disorder manifests itself, in most cases, in women during their adolescence and early adulthood. The early late are usually associated with adverse life events. The main types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and compulsive eating.
Bodily changes of adolescence can cause identity crises. However, the standards of beauty dictated by current fashion magazines for teenagers, linking often successful romances and employment to thinness, insisting miraculous diets and misfits are some factors that may contribute to the development of eating disorders.
An eating disorder may go unnoticed for a long period of time, and when recognised it is turn out by the person that denies to admit that has a food problem. These disorders usually coexist with other illnesses such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse. These diseases can cause serious physical problems and can even be fatal. The treatment generally involves psychotherapy, nutrition education, family counselling, hospitalization and, if necessary medication.
